(April 2, 2006, 9:30 a.m.)--The precautionary boil water advisory in effect for Sullivan's Island, Folly Beach, Dorchester County Water Authority customers, and Dorchester Water Authority customers has been lifted. Lab results for water samples taken by SCDHEC in these areas indicate the water is safe to drink.
On Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m., Charleston Water System lifted the boil water advisory for it's customers after tests confirmed the water was safe to drink.
Charleston Water System is working to repair the separation in the 48-inch water main in Turkey Creek, which caused a widespread water outage Friday evening and resulted in the issuance of a precautionary boil water advisory.
Until the 48-inch main is back in service, some customers may notice lower-than-normal water pressure. Charleston Water Service asks that customers use water conservatively until the main is repaired.
